One of the nicest aspects of the Christmas holidays is the luxury of time to sit, uninterrupted and make. Back at Yarndale, my Mum bought me the Sue Stratford Book, ‘Knit Me, Dress Me, Love Me’ and put it away for Christmas. There’s patterns for bunnies, pandas, cats, mice, dogs, bears and monkeys. You can look inside the book on Amazon to get an idea of just how adorable it is.
It was the mouse that I found irresistible though and a happy, lazy afternoon was spent knitting him whilst watching Harry Potter and scoffing Quality Street.
The following afternoon was spent watching the next Harry Potter, scoffing Quality Street (no purple ones left) and knitting him a jacket using that never-ending yarn. Check out my jolly jingly stitch markers – also a Christmas gift!
Admittedly, it’s a little fiddly knitting on this scale. I had to put the big light on and there’s the ends to sew in. What a great way to use up little scraps of yarn though. I have a teeny amount of the softest blue cashmere that I couldn’t bear to throw away but it will be just enough make a tiny hat or pair of pants. There’s also sewing patterns in the book and how nice it would be to knit a child their favourite animal with outfits made from best-loved clothes they’ve grown out of.
Mouse needed a friend so along came his Mini Me. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any cuter….
It’s not me eating all that cheese. Honest!
